TRX Systems, Inc.

TRX Systems, Inc. is the developer of NEON®, an indoor location system that delivers precise, infrastructure free tracking of personnel inside buildings where GPS is not available and in outdoor urban centers where GPS is unreliable. NEON greatly improves situational awareness and command effectiveness through the use of advanced sensor fusion, time of flight ranging, and mapping algorithms that deliver precise, real time location of personnel in GPS‐denied locations.

Summary

A company that is currently in demand by the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the U.S. Army, TRX Systems, Inc. (TRX) was one of the first to the market in 2006 when it began extending the power of GPS technology. As a start‐up company with a new concept — delivering precise infrastructure‐free tracking of personnel inside buildings where GPS is not available and in outdoor urban centers where GPS is unreliable — TRX needed to gain mainstream momentum and turned to TEDCO for its earliest transition funding. The $75,000 Maryland Technology Transfer and Commercialization Fund award from TEDCO in 2006 allowed TRX to forge through the earliest stages of business development and go on to raise additional capital.

Success to Date

Securing top contracts with military and first responder agencies, winning industry praise through a diverse series of awards and receiving investments from private and public funding sources, TRX continues to be a dynamic leader in its field. The $75,000 Maryland Technology Transfer and Commercialization Fund award from TEDCO in 2006 allowed TRX to forge through the earliest stages of business development and go on to raise additional capital.

Growth Potential

Since TEDCO awarded TRX seed funding in 2006, the company was granted an additional $75,000 through TEDCO’s Joint Technology Transfer Initiative and has received downstream funding from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, and New Dominion Angels.
